Live From Albany: Weigh in on Amazon's decision to drop NYC HQ

Albany Bureau

ALBANY — Amazon stunned New York officials Thursday when the company announced it was scrapping plans to build a campus in the Long Island City section of Queens, a project that had promised a minimum of 25,000 jobs.

The online retailer and cloud-computing giant issued a statement blaming its decision on local opposition to the project, which New York state and city had offered up to $3 billion in grants and tax breaks to lure.

Is this a devastating blow to New York's economy? Or are you relieved to see the state won't be putting up big subsidies?

The reporters of our Albany Bureau will be here at 12:45 p.m. today to read your responses, answer your questions and provide context live on Facebook.

It's the latest installment of Live From Albany, the USA TODAY Network's look at the week that was in New York's capital city.
