Denverites can enjoy ideal running and kite-flying weather for the next couple of days before thunderstorms become a regular afternoon feature beginning Thursday and going through the weekend.

The high temperature on Tuesday will be around 79 degrees, said the National Weather Service in Boulder. Westerly winds between 6 and 14 mph and gusts up to 17 mph are expected.

Wednesday will be a bit cooler but otherwise very similar to Tuesday, with a high temperature of around 73 degrees, the NWS said.

Although Thursday will be warmer, with a high of about 84 degrees, there’s a good chance for afternoon rain showers and thunderstorms, forecasters said. There’s a 40 percent chance for rain and thunder in the afternoon and a 20 percent chance at night.

Afternoon rain and thunderstorms are more likely on Friday and Saturday, forecasters said. The high temperature will be around 80 degrees, the NWS said.

Between Saturday and Monday, temperatures will rise to the upper 70s. Each day there is a chance for rain showers and thunderstorms, forecasters said.
