A man who was shot dead Friday in Denver’s East Colfax neighborhood was identified as 34-year-old Brad Edmonds, the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner said.

Edmonds was pronounced dead at scene in the 1400 block of Yosemite Street. He died of a gunshot wound and his manner of death is a homicide, the medical examiner’s news release said.

Shon A. Medina, 34, has been arrested in connection with the shooting, police said.

Medina, who is being held without bond for investigation of first-degree murder, claims the incident arose over a money dispute and that the shooting was in self defense, according to a probable cause statement.

A second man, Edmonds’ twin brother, was also shot, according to police. He was hit multiple times and was found after the shooting at a restaurant in the 8800 block of East Colfax Avenue.

The surviving twin told investigators that the brothers went to a home on Yosemite Street to be paid for a copper recycling deal, the statement said. Medina, who opened the front door, argued with the pair and shots were fired. An investigation is ongoing.
