The Puppy Bowl leading up the the main event of Super Bowl LIV is a fan favorite, and this year is no different.
One thing has changed though, as Colorado has a local contestant in the mix this season with an 8-month-old pup named Aspen taking the field.
Aspen is an Australian shepherd mix and hails from the Rocky Mountain Puppy Rescue in Berthoud.
Teams Ruff and Fluff will tangle in a two-hour game to see who scores the most touchdowns. Points are awarded when any dog carries a chew toy to either end zone on the field.
Aspen is one of 96 dogs selected for the event. She will be playing for Team Ruff in the big game.
The Puppy Bowl XVI airs at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 2 on the Animal Planet. Please check your local listing for TV channel information.
More information on the Rocky Mountain Puppy Rescue and Aspen’s story can be seen at the Loveland Reporter-Herald.
