Des Moines vegans, rejoice! 3rd annual VeganFest sprouts April 27

Vegetable lovers, get your appetites ready.

The Des Moines VeganFest hits the city April 27 for its third go-round, showcasing vegan options from both local and national vendors. The event takes place from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Atrium and Cowles Commons at Capital Square, located at 400 Locust Street.

Whether you're already an avid vegan or simply enjoy vegan food and want to know more about plant-based diets, everyone is welcome to attend this food festival that includes vendors, educational speakers and fun, hands-on activities. More than 50 vendors will attend, including more than 15 vegan food vendors and 35 non-food vendors selling gifts, services, books and more.

The cost of attendance for the "Rooted in Connectivity" theme is $5 per adult and free for anyone under 18. Swag bags will be handed out to the first 150 arrivals.

Enjoy workshops on a variety of topics, cooking demos, yoga, face painting, seed planting and many more fun things to do and learn. Keynote speakers will be "Vegan RD" Ginny Messina and Monique Koch of Brown Vegan.
