A new sushi restaurant is moving into the former space of Goldfinch on Court Avenue

Blue Sushi Sake Grill, a regional sushi restaurant, is opening a new location at 316 Court Avenue in downtown Des Moines.

Owned and operated by Flagship Restaurant Group, the company hopes to have the restaurant open by the first week of August, or at least by the time the Iowa State Fair opens.
The restaurant is known for its sushi, of course, but also its drink options like sake and craft cocktails and a modern Japanese atmosphere with luminous blue accents.
“Downtown Des Moines is full of energy and up-and-coming businesses – the perfect area for Blue to become a part of the community," said Nick Hogan, Flagship Restaurant CEO. "We’re excited to finally be able to provide the people of Iowa with sustainable and creative sushi.”

Sushi menu options range from a long list of maki, nigiri and sashimi with both raw and cooked options all sustainably sourced.
And if seafood isn't your thing, there are plenty of options like chicken, beef and vegetable dishes.
The 8,465-square-foot restaurant will seat about 250 people with the inside dining room and bar and outdoor patio during warmer weather.
The restaurant will serve lunch and dinner and will feature happy hour food and drink specials.
Flagship Restaurant Group and Blue Sushi Sake Grill originated in Omaha in 2002. Blue now has 13 locations in Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Nebraska, Ohio and Texas.
The restaurant group also owns and operates Roja Mexican Grill, a Tex-Mex restaurant concept; Blatt Beer & Table which features craft beer and pub food; Plank Seafood Provisions, an oyster bar and seafood restaurant; Flagship Commons, a food hall at Westroads Mall in Omaha; and Anthem, a new bar and elevated food concept in Austin, Texas.
