Be sure to mark your calendars, farmers' market fans.

The Downtown Farmers’ Market in Des Moines will wrap up the final outdoor market of the season this Saturday in the Historic Court District from 8 a.m. to noon.

The market spans nine city blocks in downtown Des Moines — on Court Avenue from Water Street to Fifth Avenue and extending north and south on Second Avenue, Third Street and Fourth Street.

Thousands flocked to downtown Des Moines for the opening day of the Downtown Farmers' Market in on Saturday, May 4, 2019.

And as Halloween approaches, patrons are invited to dress in costume to celebrate. Costumed characters will be onsite, including princesses, Batman and the Batmobile, and more.

Market-goers can receive treats from participating vendors and stock up on their favorite items before the outdoor season ends.

Farmers and producers will offer a variety of fall produce for the final outdoor market of the season including sweet potatoes, butternut squash, beets, garlic, apples and fall-themed baked goods and treats such as caramel apples, apple cider, apple pie, pumpkins, fall mums, unique gourds, flowers and plants and more.

Funky gourds appeared at the Downtown Farmers' Market.

The market supports nearly 300 local small business owners, including farmers, producers, bakers and artists that represent 50 counties across the state of Iowa.

The Downtown Winter Farmers’ Market will return on Nov. 22-23 and again on Dec. 13-14.

The Winter Market will be in a new location this year — Hy-Vee Hall at the Iowa Events Center. Visitors at The Winter Market can stock up on their favorite holiday goods.
