SKØL, a Nordic-inspired bar at the edge of the East Village, has closed for a remodel.

The restaurant, located at 401 S.E. Fifth St. in Des Moines, opened at the end of July. It was the latest concept in Full Court Press' slate of restaurants in the metro.

Jeff Bruning, co-owner of the local restaurant group, said they are revamping the restaurant's layout and updating the restrooms "during what is normally a slower time a year."

It's unclear whether SKØL will re-open as is, or under a new concept. Bruning said they have a group working on a new ideas for the space, which was once Mad Meatball pizzeria

SKØL's menu featured roasted meats, tacos, burgers, wings and salads. It offered a variety of bourbon, whiskey, rum, cider and mead.

SKØL is located at 401 SE 5th Street in East Village, Des Moines.

Bruning said they hope to reopen the restaurant in April, and will have more details on their plans in a few months. SKØL's last day open was Saturday.
