A Des Moines man will spend four decades in prison after he pleaded guilty to manufacturing and possessing child pornography.

The U.S. Department of Justice announced Friday that Raymond Wayne Eugene Hall, 33, was sentenced on federal child pornography charges to 40 years in prison and a life term of supervised release.

Raymond Wayne Eugene Hall, 33, of Des Moines has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for production of child pornography and pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

“Prosecuting people who prey on children is one of the top priorities of our office,” U.S. Attorney Marc Krickbaum said in a news release. “Raymond Hall is precisely the type of sexual predator we need to take off the street.”

Hall pleaded guilty in June to two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. He admitted to making child pornography with a hidden camera and recording himself engaged in various sex acts with a victim.

The DOJ news release said Hall produced some of the videos using his mobile phone and stored the material on his personal computer.

Hall’s sentence was enhanced by U.S. District Court Judge Rebecca Goodgame Ebinger due to his criminal history. Hall was convicted in 2006 in Polk County of sexual exploitation of children for collecting child pornography.

The 2006 state court conviction required Hall to register as a sex offender.

Krickbaum said the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office initially became aware of Hall’s activities and partnered with the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation and federal authorities on the case.

“We have strong partnerships established with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to provide maximum pursuit of child sexual predators," Krickbaum said. "This was a total team effort, and will keep the community safer for decades to come.”
