Hy-Vee, local first responders to give away 500 hams in Des Moines

Des Moines-area Hy-Vee and local first responders are getting together for their second annual ham giveaway.

Families who want to collect one of the 500 Hams for the Holidays should head to Evelyn Davis Park at 4 p.m. Monday, states a Friday news release from Hy-Vee.

The event at 1400 Forest Ave. will go on for two hours or until they run out of hams, whichever comes first. Attendees are encouraged to use hashtag #HyVeeHams on social media when sharing information, photos and videos about the giveaway.

This stop is one of 20 that Hy-Vee is making across eight states to deliver nearly 5,300 total hams to families in need, according to the release.
