Iowa man dies after car hits oncoming pickup truck

An Osceola man died Thursday when his car crossed the highway's center line and hit an oncoming pickup truck, police said. 

According to an Iowa State Patrol crash report, Martin McComas, 49, was driving a 2001 Buick Century east on Highway 149 in Keokuk County around 6:45 a.m. He was east of Highway 21 when the Buick crossed into the westbound land and hit an oncoming Dodge Ram 1500, police said.

A helicopter transported Martin, of Osceola, to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. The Dodge driver reported no injuries, according to the crash report.   

The accident is still under investigation.
