Here's how drivers will be affected during Sunday's IMT Des Moines Marathon

Every fall, runners descend on the streets of Des Moines to complete a physical feat: the marathon.

This Sunday, the IMT Des Moines Marathon will return to Des Moines. The 26-mile course will lead runners through Des Moines neighborhoods, downtown, Gray's Lake Park and around the blue oval track at Drake University.

So vehicles won't be swerving around runners and organizers, drivers will be restricted from certain streets Saturday and Sunday.

From 1 p.m. Saturday to 8 p.m. Sunday, Court Avenue, from Second Avenue to Third Avenue, and Fourth Street, from Walnut Street to Court Avenue and Court Avenue to Vine Street, will be closed.
