The wife of the Webster City man who went missing Sunday afternoon confirmed police found him dead Wednesday.

Jay Dee Wynkoop, 38, left his home at 1 p.m. Sunday, leaving behind keys and his wallet, according to his wife, Danielle Wynkoop. His car was located in a truck stop parking lot. Police said in a news release that they found Wynkoop Wednesday but did not give location, time or condition.

The Webster City police chief was not available Wednesday afternoon to confirm details.

Jay Wynkoop was last seen leaving his home at 1 p.m. Sunday. His wife says it's out of character for him not to check in and say goodnight to their children.

No other information will be released out of respect for the family, according to the release.
