A man who suffered a gunshot wound to the neck last week is in serious condition Monday at a Des Moines hospital.

The man, a 19-year-old resident of the city, was thrown from a vehicle into a Johnston parking lot early Friday afternoon.

A Monday news release from the city identified the man, however, the Des Moines Register generally does not name surviving victims of crimes without their permission.

Two people were arrested Saturday after the injured man was thrown from a vehicle into a Johnston parking lot early Friday afternoon, police said.

Tyron Izaiah Cratty, 19, and Madalynn Marie Perez, 20, both of Des Moines, were taken into custody around 1:15 a.m. Saturday in the 5500 block of Aurora Avenue on multiple felony charges, police said, including attempted murder, first-degree robbery and going armed with intent.

About 1 p.m. Friday, police responded to a call of a male with a gunshot wound lying in a Chapel Ridge apartment complex parking lot in the 6000 block of Glen Circle.

A passerby reported witnessing a car quickly drive up to the apartment complex, pull something out of the back seat, "dump it in the parking lot" and then quickly leave, said Johnston police Lt. Lynn Aswegan said Friday.

The witness called police after realizing it was a man who had been left on the ground. The victim told the witness he had been shot in the neck.

Aswegan said the incident appears to be isolated. The victim did not tell police how or why he was shot or who shot him.
