Two people were injured and another was arrested Wednesday after an early-morning shooting on the city's west side. Police say another arrest is possible.

The Des Moines Police Department was contacted about 3 a.m. Wednesday, according to Sgt. Paul Parizek, on reports of a person being held at gunpoint in the 4900 block of Ingersoll Avenue. The victim in the initial crime did not provide significant information to police, Parizek said.

Before officers arrived, two suspects fled in a car but were tracked down in the 2400 block of Ingersoll, Parizek said. When police stopped the vehicle, an officer noticed one of the suspects had a gunshot wound to the foot. That person has since been hospitalized and is recovering after surgery. Parizek said he could face charges related to the initial call.

A gun was found in the car and its other occupant, 22-year-old Fuad Dualle, was arrested. He's been charged with reckless use of a firearm, carrying weapons, possession of a controlled substance and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

A separate male victim with a gunshot wound to the leg arrived about the same time to MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center, Parizek said. He refused to provide police with information, but investigators believe he was shot in connection with the original call to the Waterbury neighborhood, Parizek said.

More Iowa news:

It's unclear what led to the gun being drawn. Court records show Dualle is on probation for a previous felony drug charge. A five-year suspended prison sentence could be imposed because the new accusations are a violation of his probation, according to court documents.

An attorney for Dualle has not been listed as of Wednesday evening. Des Moines police continue to investigate.
