Sneak peek: Ankeny's movie theater, bowling alley opens Thursday
Movie fans might find a rumble in their seat or a tickle in their headrest as Spider-Man swings from skyscraper to skyscraper in "Spider-Man: Into the SpiderVerse."
The Des Moines metro's newest movie theater and entertainment center comes with all the bells and whistles, and then some.
Ankeny 12 & B-Roll Bowling opens Thursday afternoon in Ankeny's Prairie Trail neighborhood. It features 12 movie screens with reclining leather seats, an arcade, bowling alley and full-service bar.

Two theaters are equipped with wall-to-wall screens, some of the largest screens in the country, and will be coupled with DTS-X immersive surround sound.
"There are speakers literally all around the guests, from the side walls to the back wall to the ceiling to sub woofers behind the screen," B&B Theatres spokesman Paul Farnsworth said in an email.
The MX4D auditorium uses special effects like rumbling seats, scents and mists to make the movie-going experience more immersive for viewers.
The screenPLAY! theater includes a play area with a slide and jungle gym where parents can bring their children to play for up to 30 minutes before the movie begins.
The theater's Marquee Bar and Grill will have a full bar and kitchen that serves drinks, concessions and food such as burgers.
B&B Theatres, the nation's seventh-largest movie theater company, is behind the project, its first in Iowa. B&B purchased the longtime Springwood 9 theater from Ankeny-based Fridley Theatres last fall. It closed Dec. 2.
Doors open at 3:30 p.m. Thursday. The first two showings are "Dr. Seuss' The Grinch" and "Ralph Breaks the Internet." Both begin at 4 p.m.
