AMES, Ia. — When Cameron Lard announced in March that he was leaving the Iowa State men's basketball program, there was still one giant question left to be answered:

What's next for the big man?

Lard announced Monday that he is hiring an agent and intends to enter the NBA draft. Lard made the announcement via social media, writing that he came to the decision after consulting with his mom, Iowa State coach Steve Prohm and his staff.

"I know I have a lot of hard work ahead of me, but I truly believe the time is now for me to give this my all," Lard wrote. "I would like to thank God, coach Prohm and his staff for all their support, and thank you, Cyclone nation, for everything. It was an amazing 2 seasons, playing as a Cyclone. I will forever be a Cyclone."

Lard had a tumultuous tenure at Iowa State, with multiple suspensions and legal issues off the court. He was a star on the court, at times, averaging 12.6 points per game during the 2017-18 season.

But that was Lard at his best, having been suspended at the start of this season and, in 24 games, averaging 5.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 12.5 minutes per game.

He's the third Iowa State player to declare for the draft, joining Talen Horton-Tucker and Lindell Wigginton.
