Class 3A Bowling: Cedar Rapids Jefferson's Donner, Davenport North's Verdon capture titles

Cedar Rapids Jefferson's Kaylee Donner cruised to a Class 3A Iowa girls' bowling championship after her dominant first game, while Davenport North's Bryan Verdon's steady play delivered him the boys' crown.

Donner knocked down 257 pins in her first game — the best single-game total among the girls competitors at Cadillac Lanes in Waterloo on Thursday — to lead to her 476 two-game total. Vernon also spun a 257 in his first game and used a steady 237 in the second game to top Waterloo West's Tristan Corcoran by 11 pins.

Ottumwa's Kayla Davidson totaled a 234 to finish second on the girls' side.

Davenport North won the boys' title with a team total of 3,183. Waukee won the girls' team championship with a team total of 2,855.
