Proving you can pump iron at any age in the gym is 98 year old Doris Keirle who is joined by residents from an Exeter care home.

The fit pensioner has recently started a new weekly fitness regime at Motortone, a new gym specially designed for older adults, which is part of Exeter Sports Academy.

Doris, resides at RMBI Home Cadogan Court, and is one of four individuals from the care home, who are aged between 81 and 98, to become the first care home residents to try it out.

The academy provides electrically powered gym machines which allow people to passively or actively exercise Motortone is designed to offer low impact exercise to help people with joint mobility, weight loss or management, toning, circulation, rehabilitation and more.

Cadogan Court activities coordinator Abby Dawson said: "Our residents loved using the machines and really enjoyed all the exercises. Doris tried out every machine and particularly liked the hip rotating machine to which we all sang Let’s Twist Again!

“The final machine was a relaxing vibrating chair and Doris said she didn’t want to leave. It’s so important to our home to provide our residents with lots of different opportunities to keep active, so we were delighted to be the first care home to try out Motortone.
