Milkshake bar Shakeaway bid farewell to Exeter last year - but it may not away for good.

In what will be brilliant news for fans of their almost infinite range of milkshake flavours, the chain has admitted it is looking for new sites in the city.

It was one of many businesses forced to quit Harlequins Shopping Centre, off Paul Street, ahead of the centre's closure.

Harlequins has been snapped up by a developer who wants to turn it into luxury student flats and a hotel.

Before opening in Harlequins in 2014, it was in Guildhall Shopping Centre from 2009 - where the city's Dining Quarter now stands.

It was the chain's 35th store in the UK.

Shakeaway was a hit with Exeter for many years

Shakeaway was founded in Bournemouth in 1999 and soon found a cult following.

It calls itself "the original re-inventor of milkshakes" and now has more than 180 flavours and millions of possible combinations, each milkshake is made to order by hand for every customer using real and fresh ingredients.

The choices on offer are endless, such as ferrero rocher and daim bar, real fresh fruit such as banana and passion fruit, luxury shakes such as red velvet cake and salted caramel, the millionaire’s milkshake made with real 23 carat edible gold and fizzy soda shakes made with real coke, red bull and more.

The company has also expanded abroad and new franchised stores are even planned to open in Dubai, Thailand and Iraq.

The nearest to Exeter is in Plymouth, on Cornwall Street.
