Cars are stranded in floodwater on the A30 in Devon this evening, police have said.

Roads monitoring service Inrix first reported the incident, between A303 (Upottery) and Hedgend Road (Monkton), at 16:48. Inrix says that police report a number of vehicles have become stranded in deep patches of water.

The traffic alert specialist's update at 17:53 read: "Slow traffic due to flooding on A30 between A303 (Upottery) and Hedgend Road (Monkton). Approach with care. Police report a number of vehicles have become stranded in deep patches of water."

A Met Office issued yellow weather warning for rain has been in place for much of the day - and remains in place until 9pm this evening.
