It is fair to say it has been a weekend of rain across Devon and Cornwall with the wet stuff falling for most of Friday, Saturday and now today too.

There was a window in the downpours momentarily this morning before the heavens opened once again and the wet conditions have been leading to numerous problems on the roads across the region.

The official weather warning from the Met Office was only in place for yesterday until 6pm but despite the lack of warning today conditions haven’t seemed to be much better.

The good news is that the rain is forecast to let up in time for this evening.

The Met Office is forecasting that the rain will have passed for most places by 5pm.

Most of Cornwall will have seen the showers stop by then as they move eastwards. It means that parts of Devon are likely to be wetter for longer, particularly in the north.

Some parts might not be dry until 10pm tonight but will then remain largely dry through until Tuesday.

Parts of Cornwall will get more rain tomorrow from late morning through until mid-afternoon.

Truro and St Austell will be particularly wet while Plymouth will escape with only a couple of hours on rain on Monday afternoon.

Exeter will be dry by 4pm today and then the rain will not return until 2pm tomorrow afternoon.
