The Met Office says there is a risk of snow in Devon later this week as temperatures drop across the county.

Exeter and north Devon look set to get coldest with temperatures dropping as low as 1C and feeling 2C lower thanks to wind chill.

And the Met Office says the outlook for the end of the week includes the possibility of snow across moorland.

The Met Office for Thursday to Saturday from the Met Office for Devon reads: "Often dry on Thursday and Friday but cloudy with rain in the southwest at times, and overnight frosts.

"Wet and windy on Saturday, risk of some snow over the moors."

Devon's recent weather has been dominated by a wet, warm, system coming off the Atlantic from the west - mean conditions have been rainy and windy.

More outbreaks of rain are forecast for Tuesday night and Wednesday is described as a 'damp day'.

Temperatures will drop on Thursday as a cold system from the east pushes across Devon, dropping minimum temperatures towards freezing.

According to The Weather Channel , it will seem raw as the wind blows from the near-Continent on Thursday dragging much cooler air across Britain.

Outbreaks of rain will come from the west and it could turn wintry as the milder air from the west clashes with the cold blast sweeping in from the east

Conditions will turn more showery in the South West while it will remain mostly dry for central and eastern locations after a frosty start.

A spokesperson for The Weather Channel said: “High pressure developing over Scandinavia from Wednesday will bring a colder easterly wind. Wind chill will make it seem widely below freezing on Thursday and Friday but easing by Sunday.”
