Tributes continue to pour in for three elderly men who were murdered in Exeter.

The bodies of twins Dick and Roger Carter, 84, and Anthony Payne, 80, were found less than a mile apart in just under 24 hours.

All three died in their homes in Cowick Lane and Bonhay Road.

Officers were called at about 3pm on Monday February 11 to the discovery of Anthony Payne's body at Bonhay Road.

At 1pm on Tuesday February 12, police were called to the home on Cowick Lane and found the bodies of Richard and Roger Carter.

All next of kin were informed.

More floral tributes have been placed outside both crime scenes.

Dozens of bunches of flowers can be seen outside the home of twins Richard and Roger.

A message reads: “Two gentlemen that came into this world together, but did not deserve to end their lives in this way.

Another said: “My thoughts are with you both and to your family.

“Such a sad and awful way to end a life to two quiet local gentlemen.

Another tribute placed on a bunch of flowers reads: “R.IP both of you are now in Gods hands x.”

“We learned a great deal about wildlife and the weather from you,” another said.

    Alexander Lewis-Ranwell, from Croyde, Braunton, was charged with the murder of Anthony Payne, aged 80, who was found deceased at an address in Bonhay Road on Monday 11 February.

    He was also charged with the murders of 84-year-old twin brothers, Richard and Roger Carter who were located deceased at an address in Cowick Lane on Tuesday 12 February.

  16. Saturday 9.30am: Man appears in court

    Alex Lewis-Ranwell, of Croyde in Braunton, appeared before magistrates in Exeter on Saturday morning. He was remanded custody and the case was sent to Exeter Crown Court.

A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of three men in their 80s.

Alexander Lewis-Ranwell, 27, of no fixed abode, appeared at Exeter Magistrates' Court and did not enter a plea. He has been remanded in custody.
