There has been a collision involving a caravan on the A30 eastbound at Meldon.

Traffic and travel system, Inrix, reports the eastbound lane is blocked and traffic is queueing after the caravan overturned just after the B3260 near the Meldon Junction.

The incident is affecting traffic heading into Exeter.

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed the caravan has jackknifed.

Inrix reports: "A30 Eastbound blocked, queueing traffic due to overturned caravan after B3260 (Meldon Junction).

"Affecting traffic heading into Exeter."

The A30 is currently closed from A386 to the B3260

Highways England states: “The A30 is currently closed from its junction with the A386 at Stourton Cross to the B3260 at Coombe Head, with delays of at least 15 minutes covering several miles of the eastbound carriageway.

“This closure is due to a road traffic collision and Highways England has resources deployed working hard to restore normal conditions as soon as possible.”

A30 diversions

Highways England advises: “For traffic approaching the closure locally, you are advised to expect disruption with extra journey time and may potentially have to re-route your journey.

“If travelling towards this area from much farther afield, you may wish to change your strategic route, allow extra travel time and follow guidance from our on-road variable message signs and media.”

Diversion route for light vehicles.

Leave the A30 at Stourton Cross onto the A386 and then onto the B3218 at Beacons Down Hill.

Travel along the B3260 through Okehampton and re-join the A30 at Tongue End.

HGV’s are diverted via the A386/A3072 and the A3124, this is due to weight restrictions through Okehampton.

Road to remain closed for "next couple of hours"

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said that the road will remain closed for the next couple of hours to clear debris.

Traffic is being diverted off at Sourton.

One lane closed

Inrix reports: “One lane blocked and slow traffic due to overturned caravan on A30 Eastbound after B3260 (Meldon Junction).
“Lane one (of two) is closed, affecting traffic heading into Exeter. The road was fully blocked to upright the vehicle.”
