A good Samaritan stepped in as a 14-year-old boy was being mugged - before giving them a lift home.

Police are appealing for witnesses, which occurred at Bettysmead playing fields in the Whipton area of Exeter on Sunday, February 24.

It happened between 2.30pm and 3pm.

Police confirmed that one witness to the assault 'intervened', before giving the victim a lift back to their home in Beacon Heath.

"Police are appealing for the witness of an assault of a 14-year-old boy to contact 101," read the police tweet.

"The witness intervened and gave the victim a lift home to the Beacon Heath. Thank you!"
