Following the success of its hilarious John Lewis Christmas advert spoof in 2017, a Devon estate agents has been back behind the camera this time celebrating the thriving high street in which it is based.

The High Street has been a hot topic of conversation in the estate agency industry during 2018. With this in mind the talented team at Helmores in Crediton decided to create their own version of the brilliant Visa advert that celebrates all thriving high street businesses.

Helmores Estate Agents teamed up with other Crediton businesses to sing along to Mariah Carey’s All I want for Christmas is you in a bid to encourage shoppers to #shoplocal this December.

The team shot and edited the film themselves in just seven days, using real traders from the small Mid Devon town of Crediton.

Helmores partner Rob Stoyle took on the role of cameraman and editor, Helmores partner George Clover directed and Helmores photographer Tom Hole looked after sound and lighting.

Helmores own Ian Blanchford – who starred as the ‘monster’ under the bed in the estate agents’ 2017 video – sings the opening line of the song as he is filmed opening the estate agents at No.111 to 112 High Street.

As the famous Christmas song continues, other businesses including Divine Flowers florist, Boka gift shop, A J Cox Butchers, Oliver’s bakery, Snob clothing, Grape and Grain wine merchants, sweetshop Candimama, and book shop Once Read all take part in the fun.

Since uploading the heart-warming video to its Facebook page on December 7, Helmores’ ‘A Christmas message from Crediton High Street’ has been viewed more than 22,000 times.

Rob Stoyle said: “We decided to make our video to showcase our amazing High Street and remind people of the fantastic range of goods and services that’s right on their doorstep, without the need to resort to the internet to buy their Christmas presents.

“In our own industry there have been some sizeable failures recently within the ‘online estate agents’ sector, whilst we’ve had an extremely busy and buoyant year, so we also wanted to underline the importance of the high street estate agent and personal service that we give when someone is buying or selling such a huge asset.

“The video took about a week to make - two days shooting and five days editing. As you can imagine there were lots of outtakes and laughing.

“Everyone we asked were really keen to be a part of the video – no-one at all needed any persuasion. They were all such good sports and really loved it.”
