Little Rock Corn Show is this week

LITTLE ROCK, Iowa — The 72nd annual Little Rock Corn Show gets underway Thursday evening with the opening of the food stand and the start of Bingo playing at this community's old city hall.

The theme for this year’s corn show is “Memories of the Past.”

Entry of flowers will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Town and Country Building, and again on Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon. Entry of crops and produce will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Other events planned through Sunday include:

Thursday. 7 p.m., Bingo, old city hall; Food Stand open in evening

Friday. 1:30 to 7 p.m., Town & Country Building opens with booth exhibits and floral, crops and corn entries displayed; 5 p.m., McDermott Carnival opens, Main Street; 5:30 p.m., Little Rock Queen Contest, Corn Show tent; 7 p.m., Button Drawing; Food Stand open

Saturday 7:30 a.m., Registration begins for 5, 10 and 25-mile bike ride or 3-mile walk, Town & Country Park. Races begin at 8 a.m; 10:30 a.m., Pedal Pull, south of the Presbyterian Church; 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Pork Dinner, City Hall; 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. ,Town & Country Building open before and after the parade; 1:30 p.m., 19th annual Golf Ball Roll; 2 p.m., Corn Show Parade; 5:45 p.m., entertainment under the tent, featuring Gary Siebring of George, Iowa; Joan Johnson of Ashton, Iowa; Luci Ferrin of Sibley, Iowa; and Bruce Goettl of Montgomery; McDermott Carnival rides, Main Street, following the parade; Food Stand open; 7 p.m.: Button Drawing

Sunday. 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Omelet/German Pancake Brunch, City Hall; 10 a.m, Joint church service, Corn Show Tent; noon: volleyball tournament; 1 to 4:30 p.m.: Show & Shine Car Show; 1 p.m., Bean Bag tournament, Antique Tractor Pull in Town & Country Park (food available on the grounds); and Soap Box Derby, at the water tower.
