Morgan, a 6-foot-9 force who is considered one of the state’s top juniors, had several slam dunks as the Jays dominated inside.

“They shot about 80 percent from the field,” said WHS coach Clint Meyer. “It seemed like everything they threw up there was going in, and when it didn’t they got the offensive rebound. We just had a tough night stopping them.”

Junior guard Terbuto Ochothow and junior forward Brock Bruns each had 14 points and five rebounds for Worthington. Ochothow dished out three assists.

Junior guard Collin Default had 12 points for Waseca, which is ranked No. 1 in Class AA and is 3-2 on the season. The Bluejays’ losses this year have come to large-school foes DeLaSalle and Champlin Park.

“(Waseca is) so well-balanced,” Meyer said. “They’re long and athletic and ranked No. 1 for a reason. It was a tough night for us.”

Worthington dropped to 2-2.

Both teams compete Saturday at the Big South Conference Showcase in Fairmont. Worthington takes on New Ulm at 10 a.m., while Waseca meets Jackson County Central at 4:30 p.m.
