Good news for fans of the BBC comedy-drama series There She Goes, as it has officially been renewed for a second series.

Beyond that, the show will also be moving from BBC Four to BBC Two for its five-episode second run, as reported by Radio Times.

The series stars Good Omens' David Tennant and his former Doctor Who co-star, Years and Years actress Jessica Hynes. They play the parents of a child named Rosie, who has a learning disability.

The premise of the show is based on the real-life of writer and creator Shaun Pye, who has written for multiple panel shows, created BBC Three's Monkey Dust and starred in Ricky Gervais' Extras as Andy's nemesis Greg.

Shaun's daughter has a rare chromosomal disorder and he wanted the series to capture both the highs and lows of raising a child with learning difficulties, and There She Goes has been praised for doing just that.

The first series was set in 2015, when Rosie was nine years old, and contained multiple scenes set in 2009, which is when her parents learned about her disability. Series 2 is set to take place 18 months after the first.

Shaun Pye said: "The massively positive response to the first series from parents and siblings of children similar to Rosie showed us that while our daughter is one in a trillion, we’re part of something much bigger.

"Sarah and I feel very proud to be able to tell more of our daughter’s story… or to put it more accurately, write down all the loveable, infuriating, beautiful, crazy stuff she does."

An air date is set to be revealed soon. Series 1 debuted in mid-October of last year, so perhaps we will see the same timeframe this time around.
