Love Island has addressed the mysterious departure of Sherif Lanre on air.
ITV2 announced earlier on Tuesday (June 11) that producers and Lanre mutually agreed that he would have to leave the villa because of an unspecified breach of the contestant rules.
The subject was addressed briefly in Tuesday's highlight show, when narrator Iain Stirling made a mention that the Islander had been removed.
"Earlier today, following conversations with the producers, Sherif left the villa. But for other Islanders, it's another day in paradise," Stirling said.
Viewers did spot Sherif a few times throughout the episode, but only in background shots:
Footage wasn't actually shown of the other Islanders reacting to Sherif's exit, leaving viewers and even former Love Island cast members unsatisfied and demanding some answers about what really went down:

There were only vague clues of inappropriate behaviour from Lanre, who released a statement after his exit from Love Island to take full responsibility for his actions.

"In a case of poor judgement, I broke the villa rules and as a result agreed with the producers that it was best for me to leave the villa," he said.
"I regret that I didn't conduct myself in the right way and, as a 20-year-old guy, it's something I know I will take on board and learn from. I really enjoyed my time in the villa and look forward to catching up with everyone on the outside."
A spokesperson for the show added: "After breaking the villa rules, Sherif had conversations with the producers and it was mutually agreed that he would leave the Love Island villa."
Love Island airs at 9pm on ITV2, and you can catch up on the show via ITV Hub.
