Grey's Anatomy viewers think Dr Addison Montgomery might return

Grey's Anatomy showrunner Krista Vernoff has been teasing plans to bring back an old cast member to the show for some time now.

And while many reckon Sandra Oh or Sarah Drew could be back as Dr Cristina Yang or Dr April Kepner respectively, others have turned their attention to the idea that Kate Walsh might reprise her role as Dr Addison Montgomery.

Fuel was added to the theory recently when the star herself gave an interview to PopCulture, where she discussed the possibility of her appearance in season 16 of the beloved medical drama.

She didn't say yes, but she didn't exactly say no either…

"Oh no, I can't say anything. I couldn't. It's like Shondaland, it's serious business," Walsh told the publication. "I am sworn to secrecy for real."

In the same interview, the star did say about a potential cameo that "anything's possible", adding: "If it's the right time and the right storyline, yes. I always considered Shondaland my home, and particularly Grey's.

"That's where it was just a big important piece of my life, and I love everyone involved on the show. So, absolutely I would go back if it made sense to everybody involved – yes."

Addison's return would certainly serve the fans – the character has remained a favourite of viewers ever since she left in season three to star in the wildly successful spin-off, Private Practice.

In other Grey's news, the show recently found a replacement for Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) after he was fired as head of Paediatric Surgery last season.

The show found one in Shameless actor Richard Flood, who has joined as Dr Cormac Hayes.
