Ahmedabadis, get ready for colder days. The weather department said that cloudy weather in north Gujarat and adjoining areas has caused a drop in temperature in the region and will continue till about the weekend. Parts of Kutch and Saurashtra also witnessed rains.

The temperature in Ahmedabad city dropped on Monday under the effect of upper air cyclonic circulation gripping northern parts of the state. Ahmedabad recorded a minimum temperature of 11.8 degree Celsius, which is 1.9 degree Celsius below normal, on Monday. "City temperature on Monday is the lowest of the season. The temperature may fluctuate till Wednesday and will drop from Thursday onwards," said Jayanta Sarkar, director of India Meteorological Department in Ahmedabad. The sky in the city is also likely to remain cloudy till Wednesday. Saturday onwards, the temperature is likely to drop even further, below 11 degree Celsius, said the department in its forecast.

State capital Gandhinagar recorded the lowest temperature of 11 degree Celsius. Other cities that witnessed low temperatures include Valsad (11.4 degree Celsius), Vadodara (13 degree Celsius), Deesa (13.3 degree Celsius), Amreli (14.2 degree Celsius), Diu (14.6 degree Celsius), Mahuva (14.7 degree Celsius) and Bhavnagar (15.4 degree Celsius).

The department said that in addition to the upper air cyclonic circulation, snowfall in part of northern India is also causing a drop in temperature. Part of Kutch and Saurashtra also witnessed unseasonal rains. Lakhpat in Kutch, Dwarka and some part of Saurashtra witnessed isolated rains causing the temperature to fall.
