A complaint has been filed against a well-known cake shop in Patna for allegedly selling cakes with poor quality ingredients and colouring. The complaint was filed after an office bearer of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) found that he and his family couldn't wash off the colouring after they had consumed the cake.

IMA's Bihar vice president Dr Ajay Kumar had visited the cake shop with his family to purchase a cake for his child's birthday. After consuming the cake, they found that the colouring of the icing would not go from their mouths. They also failed to wash off the colouring from their hands with soap.

Kumar took samples of the cake for testing and demanded that the shop owner show them what sort of colouring was being used in their products.

Kumar then took up the matter with Bihar's Health Secretary Sanjay Kumar, who ordered an investigation.

"I was aware that in Patna, sweets are being prepared using paneer and it is also being sold in the market. Even sweets are prepared using curd. But now it has become risky to eat cake also. IMA will soon start a campaign against this," Kumar said.
