Rutherford County Sheriff's Office investigating death of Christiana man

The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a 68-year-old man in the Christiana community.

Investigators said Terry Wayne Barber's body was found inside his Walnut Grove Road on Wednesday night, according to a news release. The manner of death was not revealed, but detectives are treating it as a homicide, according to Detective Lt. Todd Sparks.

Terry Wayne Barber, 68, was found dead inside his Walnut Grove Road home in Rutherford County.

“Barber sold SEC memorabilia and was very involved in area sports,” Sparks said in a news release.

Barber was known locally as a high school softball umpire.
