A TEENAGER was rescued by firefighters today after becoming stuck in mud near to Castle Cove Sailing Club in Weymouth.

A spokesman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said they were called to Dover Road at 2.16pm.

A teenage girl had one leg stuck in the mud and the other on hard-standing.

He added: “She just didn’t have the power to pull herself free. A crew from Weymouth attended and dug around to loosen the mud before pulling her free.”

Meanwhile, Wyke Coastguard Rescue Team were called for assistance.

On arrival at the scene, they discovered that the teenager had been freed by firefighters and handed over to paramedics.

A spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service said a rapid response vehicle attended the scene and confirmed the teenager was uninjured.
