Fatal motorcycle crash on Puncheon Run Connector

A 20 year-old man from Wilmington, North Carolina, died in a motorcycle crash on the Puncheon Run Connector in south Dover Aug. 7 at 5:36 p.m.

Dover Air Force Base identified the victim as Airman 1st Class Cameron Presnell. He was assigned to the 736th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron and a Dover AFB Honor Guard Trainer.

“Today, we lost a member of our family in a tragic accident,” said Col. Matt Jones,

436th Airlift Wing commander. “We share in the sorrow felt by his loved ones. We must not forget the valuable contribution he made to our country and the impact he left on our organization.”

Police said Presnell was riding a Red Honda CBR 900R motorcycle east on the Puncheon Run Connector at a high rate of speed. As he approached a left curve, he went off the south edge of the road and struck a guardrail, police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Puncheon Run Connector was closed for about three hours during the investigation.

Man runs from Dover police, arrested for heroin

The Dover Police Department arrested Thomas Bolden, 21, on drug and firearms charges the afternoon of Aug. 8.  

Police saw Bolden in the area of South New Street at 2:22 p.m., and the Dover officers knew he was wanted for receiving stolen property after driving a stolen vehicle from Wilmington. 

When police contacted Bolden, he ran toward South Queen Street. He took out a 9mm handgun from his waistband and threw it in a backyard while running. After falling to the ground, police arrested Bolden. He was in possession of 39 baggies of heroin at the time.

He was committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $71,200 cash bond, charged with possession of firearm during commission of felony, two counts of possession of firearm by person prohibited, carry concealed deadly weapon, possession with intent to deliver heroin, tampering with physical evidence and drug paraphernalia.

Four gunshots to a vehicle in Capitol Park

The Delaware State Police are investigating after an unoccupied car was shot at multiple times in Dover’s Capitol Park neighborhood Aug. 8.

Troopers responded to the 200 block of North Governors Boulevard at 4:19 a.m. When they arrived, they determined that a vehicle parked in the driveway of the home was shot at four times.

When police talked to the occupants of the home, they denied seeing the shooting and could not provide any suspect information. The vehicle was registered to a guest at the home, who was from Virginia. There were no injuries, police said.

Several neighbors in the area reported hearing the gunshots, but they could not provide any suspect information.

Vehicle damaged in shooting

The Dover Police Department is investigating the shooting of a vehicle in the area of South New Street and Reed Street Aug. 4.  

At 2:28 p.m., an unknown suspect or suspects shot at the vehicle's engine compartment multiple times, disabling it.

The suspect(s) drove off in an unknown vehicle. 

The 35-year-old male victim was uncooperative with detectives, police said. No injuries were reported to police.
