In the wide-ranging world of studies examining quality of life factors, Fremont has had its share of wins.
The city has previously been dubbed America’s happiest large city, twice been named as the least stressed, and it’s nabbed high-ranking spots as one of the best places to raise a family, among other honors.
And now, the Bay Area’s fourth-largest city can add to its awards mantle the fifth-place trophy among the most unfaithful cities in the nation.
The Infidelity Hotlist, released Wednesday by Ashley Madison, a Canadian dating website for people seeking affairs, said Fremont is number five in the country for cheating.
The Top 20 list was created using the number of signups to the dating site between June 21, 2018 and September 22, 2018, per 1,000 people in each city, according to a press release from the company.
The top city for cheating on this year’s list is Orlando, Fla., followed by Newark, NJ, St. Louis, and Pittsburgh, before Fremont. Sacramento and Anaheim are the other two cities from the Golden State to make the list, coming in at 18 and 19, respectively.
“One thing is for certain, it doesn’t matter where you live, affairs can and will occur anywhere,” the press release said.
In an ironic twist, one of the factors in a 2018 WalletHub study that ranked Fremont the least stressed large city in America was the lowest divorce and separation rate among all 182 cities surveyed.
“While most would assume that bigger cities probably produce more cheaters per capita, this data shows us what we were already aware of,” said Isabella Mise, Ashley Madison’s communication director.
“Cheaters are everywhere.”
