Naga civil societies demand ILP in Dimapur

Dimapur, May 18 (EMN): Various tribe hohos and social organisations have urged the State government to implement all the recommendations of the Abhishek Committee on Inner Line Permit (ILP) and to complete all modalities relating to enumeration of indigenous inhabitants of the State by June 2019.

It may be mentioned here that Abhishek Committee had recommended inclusion of Dimapur under ILP.

The resolution to this effect was taken during a joint meeting organised by the Joint Committee on Prevention of Illegal Immigrants (JCPI) on May 18 at Tourist Lodge, Dimapur. Altogether, 12 tribe hohos including civil society organisations such as NTC, NGBF, NCD, CNTC, ENPUD, UNTABA, SN, ACAUT, Nagaland Garo Union, and Dimapur district based bodies like DDGBF, DUCCF, TUCT, CAKU, ASTD, WCH, LHD, DNSU, ASTUD, AYF, and DAYO attended the meeting.

JCPI convenor, K Ghokheto Chophy, and the secretary, Tia Longchar, stated that the house had approved formation of NEFIP (North East Forum for Indigenous People) and the selection of Theja Therieh, Tia Longchar, Thungchamo Ngullie as representatives of Nagaland state to NEFIP.

The house further resolved to have extensive deliberation on Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) with TPO (Tenyimi People’s Organisation), ENPO (Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation), CNTC (Central Nagaland Tribes Council), KIN (Kuki Inpi Nagaland) and KTCN (Kachari Tribal Council Nagaland) – representing 16 tribes on June 7 at Tourist Lodge Hotel, Dimapur, at 11 am.
