SNOW could bring travel disruption to East Lothian on Saturday, the Met Office has warned.

A yellow 'be aware' warning for snow in the county has been issued, covering the period between 4am and 9pm.

The Met Office says that a spell of snow may bring some travel disruption, with a small chance of significant travel delays on roads, along with delayed or cancelled trains and planes.

The Met Office's warning impact matrix describes the warning as having a 'medium' impact, the second highest possible, but only a 'very low' likelihood of causing major disruption.

The current forecast for East Lothian on Saturday suggests snow and sleet will fall for much of the day, likely starting overnight and continuing well into the afternoon before turning into heavy rain later on, though more snow and sleet could fall late on Saturday evening and overnight into Sunday.

Temperatures are set to hover just above freezing in the low single figures.
