Sure lets just let them build it however they want without review. No reason to change that great retro ’70 s strip mall Safeway look. Have look at their coming and other rather decent designs. Course y’all might prefer the countrified Goleta Sprouts look and could tie your Morgan horse up out front while trying to figure out why there’s no Tractor Supply next door.
I mean, why create a streamlined process that generates more revenue via tax and less expense via bureaucratic procedure?
What makes you think a review process can’t be done right and be efficient at the same time? As for the facade and/or architecture, it’s the very multi-agency inefficiency that creates this as the independent actors on those committees tear apart and piece meal every wondrous architectural design brought their way. What’s left is hodge-podge hunky dunky. End the multi-departmental hoop jumping approval process while setting comprehensive guidelines and you’d end this demagoguery.
I’m guessing it just takes that long to get the smell out of there from Vons fish department! 😉
Sad to see the people wanting this company to open since the major reason it can exist seems to be the underpaying of its employees. BF has historically kept most of its workers on part-time status to avoid health care and other benefits. It keeps employees on short string by lightly scheduling and then calling them in on very quick notices for extra hours. This is the modern management style–lots of profit for the owners/investors/fund managers at the expense of those who have to make a living by actually working.
I second RHS. Bristol Farms advertises as an upscale grocery chain but pays and treats its employees like temporary fast food workers. Creating jobs is meaningless if employees don’t make living wages and have zero job security.
