An Edinburgh salon is re-opening this week but don’t get too excited – it’s just for dogs.

Dofos, Edinburgh’s oldest pet shop, has announced it’s re-opening its natural grooming salons from Thursday to help out badly-matted pooches.

With human hairdressers confirmed to be opening under phase three of the Scottish Government’s plan to ease lockdown – your dog could be looking more trim than you for weeks to come.

Sadly they have a strictly animals-only policy so you can’t book yourself in for a sneaky groom.

Director of Dofos Craig Davidson explained, “We’re re-opening for welfare reasons, just due to the amount of matted dogs we’ve seen.”

Mr Davidson explained that some dog varieties need grooming every six weeks and Dofos salons have been closed for 11 weeks now.

With the salons re-opening he stressed that precautions would be taken to avoid crowding in shops and make sure conditions were as safe as possible.

“Both shops are open and we’ll be taking extra time to clean and make sure we can operate safely,” Mr Davidson explained.

Dofos staff are currently working flat-out to get online orders out to people's pamperd pets so salon customers are asked to book using the online form on the website, Mr Davidson said.
