Heavy rain is expected to batter Edinburgh and the Lothians for much of Thursday, with serious flood warnings issued.

The Met Office and SEPA are both predicting flooding in the area, and people are being urged to take extra precuations.

Heavy downpours are expected throughout the morning, and on until around 4pm.

While the rain is forecast to ease then, it won't clear up with wet weather likely for the rest of the day.

Edinburgh Live reported yesterday that the Met Office had issued a "danger to life" flood warning for East Lothian and parts of Midlothian, with communities set to be cut off.

Driving conditions are expected to be more difficult while flooding could cause some disruption to public transport.

Temperatures should be around nine or ten degrees for much of the day – but that won't matter much as you probably wont want to be outside anyway.
