Smackover picks up road win at Bismarck

BISMARCK - Smackover took another step towards locking up a spot in the regional tournament Monday by rolling to a 17-3 win over Bismarck in a 7-3A contest.

The Bucks (9-15, 5-6) jumped out to a 4-0 lead only to see the Lions cut the lead in half with two runs in the second.

However, the Bucks scored six runs in the third to take control of the game.

Jacob Eubanks, who was outstanding in Friday’s win over Prescott by throwing a three-hitter, led a 15-hit barrage by going 4-for-4 with three RBIs.

A sophomore, Eubanks scored four runs while delivering a two-run single in the second and an RBI double in the third.

Noah Wilson also had a big day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBIs.

The senior singled home two runs in the second before adding RBI singles in the fourth and fifth innings.

Jackson Cook drove in three runs while going 2-for-3.

The junior had an RBI single in the third, a sacrifice fly in the fourth and an RBI single in the fifth.

Rhett Richardson also had a multi-hit game, finishing 2-for-3 with an RBI single in the fourth.

Josh Saulsbury went 1-for-3 with an RBI single in the third, while Baylor Brumley was 1-for-3 with an RBI double in the fifth.

Dawson Biggers was 1-for-4 and Chase Brumley was 1-for-2 to round out the Bucks’ attack.

Richardson picked up the win in relief.

The freshman allowed one unearned run over 3 1/3 innings. He allowed two hits, walked one and didn’t have any strikeouts.

Saulsbury allowed two earned runs in 1 2/3 innings. He allowed one hit, walked four and struck out two.

Smackover will host Monticello Wednesday before traveling to Centerpoint for their final conference game Friday.
