LAS VEGAS -- The UFC's double champion Amanda Nunes will defend her featherweight title against Felicia Spencer at UFC 250 in Brazil, according to UFC president Dana White.
Contracts have not been signed, but verbal agreements are in place, White and additional sources told ESPN. The 145-pound title fight will serve as the UFC 250 co-main event, inside Ginasio do Ibirapuera in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Nunes (19-4) is the 135- and 145-pound female champion of the UFC. She has defended her bantamweight championship five times, but this will mark her first defense of the featherweight title she took from Cris 'Cyborg' Justino in a first-round knockout victory in 2018.
Originally from Brazil, now fighting out of American Top Team in Florida, Nunes has not suffered a loss since 2014. ESPN.com ranks her the No 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
This will mark Nunes' first appearance in her native Brazil since May 2018. She has finished four of her past six fights via knockout.
Spencer (8-1) earned the shot by finishing Zarah Fairn at UFC Fight Night just last weekend in Norfolk, Virginia. The win improved Spencer's UFC record to 2-1. She defeated Megan Anderson in her UFC debut in May, before suffering a decision loss to Justino in July. The 29-year-old featherweight fights out of Florida, but was born in Montreal.
