TOP STORY: United won't panic buy in January
Manchester United have reportedly ruled out a transfer splurge in the new year, with the Daily Mail also claiming manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants the help of a Spanish consultancy service to assist with his recruitment drive.
Madrid-based Driblab has an in-depth database of more than 100,000 players, and Solskjaer wants the Red Devils to join its client list alongside a dozen La Liga clubs, as well as Championship surprise package Nottingham Forest.
This latest development comes following reports that the Old Trafford club are looking at potentially reshaping their recruitment structure, with as many as two technical directors believed to be on their way into the club.
There is a growing feeling within the senior ranks that an increased use of technology could help them uncover hidden gems like Liverpool did when they signed Philippe Coutinho in 2013.

22.43 BST: Barcelona are set to offer contract extensions to Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Nelson Semedo, according to Spanish outlet AS. Both players have deals through 2022 but Barca's strategy is to tie down a young core that include Frenkie De Jong and Ansu Fati. Ter Stegen's potential deal is seen as a reward for his exemplary service to the club, while Semedo's case is seen to fend off potential interest from other rivals, notably Atletico Madrid, who came for the Portuguese in the summer.
21.52 BST: Tottenham have struggled this season and sit ninth in the Premier League. Amid their struggles, could Spurs look to a team lower them in the table for defensive reinforcements?
Football Insider claims that Wolves centre-back Willy Boly is wanted by not only Tottenham but North London rivals Arsenal. Is the 28-year-old the answer to Spurs' defensive woes? Considering all that has gone wrong for Tottenham, they might need a bigger name than that.
20.47 BST: Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is a fan of Phil Foden, even going as far as to say, City wouldn't sell the youngster for €500m. Comments like that make it seem as if Foden's long-term future is at City, but should the 19-year-old, who has played only 100 minutes this season, seek a move away from the Etihad in the short term?
Ex-City boss Stuart Pearce believes so: "In January, [Foden] really needs to look at where he is at the moment," Pearce told talkSport. "Game time is absolutely vital for a player of his age. He's coming to that age where he needs to play some games. I think six months out on loan, if he hasn't broken into the team, would do him the world of good."
19.37 BST: It's no secret that Arsenal need help in central defence, but if recent reports are to be believed, help could soon be on the way.
90min reports that the Gunners are leading the charge for Villarreal and Spain centre-back Pau Torres. The 22-year-old, who is enjoying a breakout season with the Yellow Submarine, is has a release clause of €50m and is also reportedly being pursued by Manchester City and Chelsea.
18.20 BST: According to Bild, Neymar's father is working on negotiating a contract extension for the Brazil international at PSG.
The news comes as a surprise given the winger seemed set on an exit this summer, but Neymar has recently expressed his desire to regain the trust of Paris' fans.
His existing contract runs out in 2022 and it is reported the extension would keep Neymar at the Ligue 1 club until 2024.
17.40 BST: With Juventus open to letting Mandzukic leave the club, the Serie A giants have set their sights on Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus.
Tuttosport report that Juventus are looking to sign a forward in the January transfer window and they are interested in making a move for Jesus.
Mauro Icardi is reported to be Juve's top priority but they have placed the Brazil international as a plan B option given his lack of minutes with City this season.
17.00 BST: Manchester United have reached a verbal agreement with Mario Mandzukic, according to the Express.
The report claims that Juventus have slapped a £10 million price tag on the striker but he has already verbally agreed to a move to Old Trafford in the January transfer window.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer failed in an attempt to sign the Croatia international in the summer, but Juventus are willing to offload him in January and the player is keen to remain in Europe.
15.50 BST: Yannick Carrasco has said he is ready to call time on his spell in China and return to Europe.
The Belgium international left Atletico Madrid for Dalian Yifang in 2018 but said he wants to leave the club in January.
"I can forget everything on the pitch, but life as a foreigner is difficult there," he told Belgium's VTM Nieuws.
"In the previous transfer period it was difficult for the club to let me go. Now the situation is different. I hope that if there is something concrete this winter, I can leave.
"Life is just harder for me. The city is difficult for foreigners. My wife lived here with me for a full year. She wants to open a business and is busy with it. If you are married, you also want to be with your wife. Now I often sleep alone when I get home. That's a bit difficult. "
14.20 BST: Declan Rice has insisted he is happy at West Ham United amid speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United.
The Mirror claims that United are willing to spend £70 million on the England international in January, but Rice has expressed his desire to remain in London.
"I signed a five year contract with West Ham last year, which will keep me at club till I'm 24, and for me this is the best place to be right now," he told the newspaper.
"I am playing for a manager who has given me my chance and played me week in week out.
"It's all talk until something happens -- and nothing has -- so I'm just focused on West Ham, doing my best and making fans happy."
13.05 BST: Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho is set to be offered a new deal at the club, according to the Sun.
Fernandinho, 34, is out of contract at the end of the season but it is reported that City plan to sit down with the player to negotiate a one-year extension.
The Premier League champions cannot afford to lose any more experienced players with David Silva departing after this season whilst Vincent Kompany left in the summer.
12.10 BST: Could Olivier Giroud be on his way out of Stamford Bridge?
The Chelsea striker has played second fiddle to the impressive Tammy Abraham this season and voiced his frustration about his role in the squad.
"Accept it? No, I do not accept it," he told Le Pelerin. "You do not have to be fatalistic in certain situations.
"I have always been respectful and humble. Even if I do not agree with the coach, I do not criticise him.
"But in myself, I cannot accept it because I know what I'm worth on a pitch."
11.30 BST: The Sun claims Arsenal youngster Eddie Nketiah is attracting interest from Championship side Bristol City.
The striker is on loan at Leeds United and despite scoring four goals, he has not been a regular under manager Marcelo Bielsa.
It is reported the striker chose Leeds over Bristol City in the summer but manager Lee Johnson is ready to attempt to sign Nketiah for a second time.
10.45 BST: Barcelona are willing to let Ivan Rakitic leave the club when the transfer window reopens in January, according to AS.
The report claims that Barca manager Ernesto Valverde denied the Croatia international a move during the summer with both Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus interested.
However, the midfielder has yet to play for the full 90 minutes this season, and his growing frustration could see Barca sell him in January.
10.00 BST: Reports in Germany suggest that Bayern Munich could be ready to challenge Real Madrid for the signing of Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen. The Danish midfielder is available on a free transfer next summer and can open talks with overseas clubs in January.
PAPER ROUND: Euro giants lead Can chase
Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain head up a host of clubs chasing the signature of Juventus midfielder Emre Can, according to reports from Calciomercato.
The German has seen his first-team opportunities shrink this season following the arrivals of Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot, and has completed just 78 minutes of league action for the Serie A champions.
The 25-year-old was linked with a move away from Turin in the close season, but opted to stay and fight for his place in Maurizio Sarri's midfield. However, with a long list of potential suitors now waiting in the wings in January, it is looking increasingly likely that the former Liverpool man will depart for pastures new.
In addition to Bayern and PSG, the likes of Sevilla, Real Betis and Monaco are also rumoured to be in the race for the combative midfielder.
Real, Barca & PSG keep an eye on Elmas
More from Calciomercato, which reports Real Madrid, PSG and Barcelona are keeping tabs on Napoli's Macedonian midfielder Elif Elmas.
The 20-year-old has made seven appearances for Carlo Ancelotti's side since joining from Turkish giants Fenerbahce for a fee of £9 million in the summer, but his performances for North Macedonia have put big hitters from Spain and France on red alert.

Elmas struck a brace to help his side beat Slovenia 2-1 on Friday night, a result that has hauled North Macedonia right back into contention for a qualifying spot for next summer's Euro.
The Italian publication claims the trio of Real, Barca and PSG could all be tempted to step up their interest in the midfielder if he is to continue his strong start to the season.
