We're all hoping for a white Christmas, but the festivities may be arriving early this year with forecasters predicting snow across Essex today (Saturday, December 15).

The little drops will be falling at different times throughout the day in various places in the county, but will you get some where you are?

If you're the type of person who is waiting for the days to get colder for a chance of the white stuff, this could make your weekend.

There is one town that could see up to three hours of snowfall.

Keep on reading to find out when and where it is going to snow in Essex today.

Chelmsford

Midday is primed for snow

Chelmsford will see snowflakes at midday and they could last an hour. The snow is not forecast to return throughout the afternoon.

But keep the hats and scarves on just in case, as the temperature will be as low as 2C.

Basildon

When it will snow in Basildon

Basildon will also see some snow but this may be mixed with rain and turned into sleet. The temperature will be 2C when it's predicted to start falling at around 11am.

Brentwood

Are you excited in Brentwood?

In Brentwood there will be a light show of snow at 11am, this will then be followed by heavy rain from midday throughout the afternoon and evening.

It will be chilly here at 1C.

Burnham

Are you looking forward to the snow in Burnham-on-Crouch?

A spell of snow can be seen from midday after a cloudy start this morning. This will then turn into rain which will get heavier as the day goes on.

Corringham

The afternoon will be more festive in Corringham

Corringham will be slightly later today, with snow scheduled to fall at 1pm, and between 3pm and 5pm. They will have most of the forecast this weekend, with rain in between the spells.

Grays

4pm is the time to shine in Grays

Just up the road in Grays we might have snow at 4pm today, this could also turn into sleet as it has the chance to mix with rain.

Laindon

The rain will be broken up by a chance of snow

Coming to Laindon, we have snow forecast to break up a long day of rain. The showers will start at midday and will continue until 10pm. But snow, and possibly sleet, is forecast at 3pm.

The temperature will be as low as 1C.

Maldon

Maldon will also see the white stuff early in the afternoon, at around 2pm, if the weather permits. This will then be followed by several hours of rain, which means there is less chance of it settling.

Shoeburyness

There could be snowfall by the coast

If we travel further to the coast, to Shoeburyness and Southend-on-Sea, there could be snow and sleet at midday.

Although it will be a touch warmer at 2C.

South Ockendon

There are two instances where it might snow in South Ockendon

South Ockendon is another town that will have the pleasure of possibly experiencing snow twice. It will first fall around 11am, with a chance of it turning to sleet, but this will be met with another instance at 3pm which could see up to an hour of snowfall.

Temperatures will fluctuate between 1C and 2C.

Stanford-le-Hope

Moving along to Stanford-le-Hope they could be the lucky ones here - with up to three hours of possible snowflakes. The snow may start falling at 1pm through until 4pm, where it will be followed by heavy rain in the evening.

Better get those snowman ready.

Tilbury

Then we have Tilbury, by the river Thames, which is forecast to see snow late in the afternoon at around 4pm. The day will see some showers from 1pm, after a cloudy start in the morning, but the flurry of snowfall will also be followed by more rainfall.
