The A13 has been shut for the second time today due to a police incident near to Barking and Dagenham.

Traffic came to a complete standstill on the A13 Newham Way heading eastbound at the Beckton Roundabout (A406/A13) shortly after 4pm today (Friday, May 17).

A spokesperson at the Metropolitan Police confirmed that officers have been called to the concerns for the welfare of a man.

Congestion has already back towards Essex to the A13 Alfreds Way junction in Barking, while traffic is also affected into London towards Canning Town.

It is the second time that the A13 has been shut today.

Emergency services descended on the scene earlier this morning following a crash near Benfleet involving a van and a motorbike.

The rider was taken to hospital where their condition was not thought to be life threatening or life changing.
