Part of the A13 is completely shut this morning after what police have described as a "serious" crash.

The two-car crash took place at the Sadlers Farm roundabout, one of the busiest in Essex, where the A13 meets the A130 in South Benfleet.

First reported at around 6.30am this morning (Friday May 17), a full closure is in place on the entry slip road from the A130 on to the A13's London-bound carriageway.

Essex Police's Roads Policing Unit tweeted: "We are currently dealing with a serious RTC in the area of Sadlers Farm roundabout at the slip road from the A130 onto the London bound A13.

"Full closure currently in place whilst we assess, please avoid the area and use alternative routes if possible."

There is congestion on the A130 back to the roundabout with the A1245, while there are also delays on Canvey Way and London Road, through South Benfleet itself.
