The A127 is closed after a car overturned on the westbound carriageway.

There are currently six miles of queues after the collision happened at around 5pm today (December 17).

The incident took place near the Rayleigh Spur roundabout and is causing traffic to build around Rayleigh and Thundersley.

Emergency services are at the scene and witnesses report that there are two fire engines, up to five ambulances and six police cars.

The road remains closed as they deal with the collision.

Essex Police, East of England Ambulance Service and Essex County Fire and Rescue Service have been approached for comment.

A statement from Essex Police reads: “The accident was a non-injury incident. Essex Police were made aware of a collision at the Thundersley area of the A127.

“There have been no arrests.”
